there's been a general assumption in both the us and the uk that it was the wall street/city banks that really messed up a couple of years back t if only we moved to a mutual or credit union style of banking then such banking crises just wouldn't happen t sometimes there's an overtone of the too big to fail argument , that if we had many much smaller banks then we could all know those that do get into trouble to fail without imperilling the system .
as we all know , for we get told it often enough , if only we brought the manufacturing back from china then there would be millions of well paid blue collar jobs for people to do t this argument is used in europe just as much as it is in the us .
america has evolved from a manufacturing economy to a service economy -- so why do we export the most important service jobs of all?
if ouring economy is doing so badly why do so many people come here?
why do people who have plenty of everything behave so badly?
